This week we have been learning about the Queen and her Jubilee.
Today we looked at her crown. Did you know it is made out of solid gold and is mounted with 2,868 diamonds, 17 sapphires, 11 emeralds, hundreds of pearls & 'Black Prince's' ruby. The crown is very heavy. We looked closely and we could see some leaf like shapes.
In the forest we collected 6 leaves to make our own crown. We thought about the centre-piece and some of us put our largest leaf in the middle.
We had to peel the back off the tape so it was sticky and press our leaves down flat.
If we had sticky tape left we added more leaves.
"I need some more leaves!" says Mia. "Small one!" says Jacob
We wrote our names on the back too.
We're going to paint, add glitter and gems to our crowns tomorrow ready for the Jubilee Tea-Party.
