Anderson Shelters

After our visit to Eden Camp, Mrs Hawkins set us the challenge of making our own Anderson Shelters.

First we looked at the shape of Anderson Shelters and why they had a curved roof. We realised that this was stronger than a flat roof. After that, we looked at ways of making materials stronger and tested them using weights. We also made a prototype of a shelter.

We designed our shelters making sure we thought about the shape, what needed to go inside and what materials were available to us.

Finally, we all worked in groups to create our version of an Anderson Shelter.
